QUALITY CONTROL

 

Location: Onsite - Napa, California

Hourly Rate: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour (Based on Experience)
Employment Type: Full-Time, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM Monday-Friday, day shift, occasional weekends

Department: Quality

Reports To: Quality Supervisor

General Position Summary:

The Quality Control is responsible for ensuring that all products meet established quality standards and customer specifications. In this role, you will monitor the production process, conduct tests and inspections, and collaborate with production teams to identify and resolve quality-related issues.

Your expertise in quality assurance and continuous improvement will play a key role in maintaining the high standards of our products. This position requires a proactive approach, excellent problem-solving skills, and a commitment to upholding quality throughout the production lifecycle.

 

Responsibilities:

Print:

  • Conduct inspections of raw materials and finished labels to ensure compliance with specifications and quality standards.
  • Perform in-process checks throughout the production process, identifying and addressing any defects or issues.
  • Printing and reviewing job tickets for errors.
  • Preparing customer samples.
  • Adding JT’s to MaintainX.
  • Reprint and replacing JT’s and PDF’s as necessary.
  • Preparing Lights and Darks/Ideal Color Standards (External).
  • Color Standard creation (Internal).
  • Color Standard filing and maintenance of color standards (Internal).
  • Pulling Samples per internal requests.
  • Filing and maintaining Job Ticket Folders.
  • Responding to email requests (varies day to day).
  • Document quality inspection results, maintain records, and generate quality reports.
  • Collaborate with production teams to troubleshoot and resolve quality-related issues in a timely manner.
  • Assist in developing and implementing quality control procedures and best practices.
  • Ensure all quality control equipment and tools are maintained and calibrated as needed.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and operational efficiency.
  • Provide feedback and training to production staff regarding quality standards and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Online Inspection:

  • Perform inspections on labels according to well defined criteria using specifications
  • Participate in the SOP (Standard Operating Procedures) inspection function
  • Evaluate problems and make initial recommendations for corrective action to supervisor
  • Work with Quality Assurance to provide feedback to other departments
  • Reject finished products, as necessary
  • Assist Quality and Production Manager to investigate customer complaints
  • Notify any problem or alert regarding converting process to Quality and Production Manager
  • Quarantine nonconforming products and advise Quality and Production Manager for disposition
  • Document and control quality findings and data in electronic records
  • Must work well with others in a team environment
  • Ability to meet daily standards
  • Maintains a clean and organized work area
  • Observe company work rules and safety regulations
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Education and/or Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in the printing industry is preferred.
  • Familiarity with quality control tools, methods, and standards is a plus.

 

Specific Skills, Competencies, and Qualifications:

  • Attention to Detail: Strong ability to identify defects and inconsistencies in printed products.
  • Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with label printing processes, materials, and quality control standards.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to analyze data and solve quality-related issues effectively.
  • Communication Skills: Clear communication skills for reporting findings and collaborating with the production team.
  • Mathematical proficiency: Ability to work with fractions, ratios, and proportions, to ensure accuracy in measurements and calculations.
  • Computer Skills: Outlook, Word, Excel; plus, ability to learn color management software.
  • Organizational Skills: Ability to manage time efficiently and maintain accurate quality records.
  • Time Management: Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and meet production deadlines.

Team Collaboration: Strong interpersonal skills for working closely with production teams and supervisors.

  • Reach Outward – 50% of Shift
  • Squat/Kneel – 25% - 50% of Shift
  • Lift Up To 40lbs – 50% of Shift
  • Must have the ability to distinguish and differentiate between colors for printing labels.
