REPORTS TO: PSL Production Manager, Flexo Supervisors

 

General Position Summary: The Flexographic Press Operator performs all tasks in make-ready, preventative maintenance and production run assignments. The press operator is responsible for set ups and ensuring that quality is to the highest standards and that production schedules are met as required. Responsibilities

  • Operates assigned equipment in accordance with the manufacturer specifications and guidelines.
  • Operates flexographic printing press to print designs or lettering on rolls of flexible plastic film, paper, and nonabsorbent stock for use in making labels.
  • Reads and is familiar with all documented procedures within the area of responsibility.
  • Performs all tasks according to the production schedule.
  • Thoroughly reads and complies with all special instructions and specifications.
  • Reads the job order, mounts cutting dies, embossing dies, installs print cylinders, and secures assembly in bed of press.
  • Fills trays.
  • Sets impression registration.
  • Starts press, adjusting speed, tension, and alignment of printing plate as necessary.
  • Cuts sample of printed material from end of printed roll and inspects for imperfections, such as blurred or off-center impressions.
  • Monitors the production during run quality, maintaining all required samples.
  • Must work well with others in a team environment.
  • Recording of time and production for job costing.
  • Performs all required preventative maintenance in accordance to production schedule.
  • Maintains a clean and organized work area and press.
  • Observe company work rules and safety regulations.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

 

 

Specific Skills, Competencies, and Qualifications

  • Basic math skills – ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Basic reading skills – ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical information and procedures.
  • Be able to pass color blindness test.
  • Dexterity of hands.
  • Good computer skills.
  • Reasoning ability.
  • Ability to meet multiple deadlines.
  • Must have good judgment of color.

 

Education and/or Experience

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Five or more years of Flexography experience.
  • Experience with hot stamping, rotary screen or cold foil strongly preferred.
  • Combination of education and experience determined by hiring manager.
